Feeling bad for the maintainers that have to deal with spam PR's right now.

TBH some of these seem so ludicrous and bot-like that I find it hard to believe they're actually participants. I wonder if there's something else going on - perhaps even something GitHub can analyze and moderate automatically?

They "traced the majority of this year’s spammy contributions back to a participant with a large online audience who openly encouraged their community to take part in spammy activities, including ideas on how to game the system." - so it seems like real people after all. Shame on them.

I hope DO can work with the GitHub abuse team so the cleanup doesn't fall on the maintainers.
